
Philadelphia Freedoms Defeat New York Sportimes

(VILLANOVA, Pa.) - The Philadelphia Freedoms defeated the New York Sportimes in the final match of the 2013 WTT season.
Philadelphia Freedoms' Sam Groth, record holder for fastest serve, jumpstarted the evening with a win over New York's Jesse Witten during men's singles. Down 3 - 1, Groth won the next four games to defeat Witten, 5 - 3.
The women's doubles set was next with the Philadelphia Freedoms team of Brooke Austin and Sachia Vickery falling to New York's Anna-Lena Groenenfeld and Kveta Peschke, 5 - 0.
The Freedoms saw another victory during the mixed doubles set when Jordan Kerr and Brooke Austin beat the Sportime's John McEnroe and Kveta Peschke, 5 - 1. Sam Groth put Philadelphia up 1-0 before Freedoms Coach Josh Cohen inserted Kerr as a substitution for the remainder of the set.
During the women's singles set, Philadelphia Freedoms' Brooke Austin finished the set started by Philadelphia's Sachia Vickery and defeated New York's Groenenfeld 5 - 2.
A fast paced and entertaining men's doubles set completed the night for the Freedoms with Sam Groth and Jordan Kerr defeating John McEnroe and Robert Kendrick, 5 - 0.
The 2013 Philadelphia Freedoms are presented by Beneficial Bank and hosted by Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
