Philadelphia Freedoms News Release

(VILLANOVA, Pa.) - The Philadelphia Freedoms and Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Eastern Regional Medical Center announced today a new multi-year partnership. This is an extension of an association between the two organizations that began in 2011. Under this new agreement CTCA© will serve as Host Sponsor of the Freedoms for the 2014-2016 seasons. This partnership also includes year-round programming with the Freedoms, including tennis education and community outreach at Hunting Park.

"I am thrilled to be announcing a continuation of our partnership with CTCA," said Billie Jean King, owner of the Philadelphia Freedoms. "Like the Freedoms, CTCA embodies the spirit of teamwork, determination and perseverance when it comes to treating patients and battling cancer. Our partnership with CTCA brings the Freedoms tremendous value and we are honored to continue working together."

One of the highlights of the partnership between the Freedoms and CTCA is an annual spring benefit for Assistance in Healthcare (AIH), a nonprofit organization that offers financial support to help cover the non-medical needs of cancer patients and their families who are undergoing treatment in the local Philadelphia area. Over the past two years, Good Morning America's Robin Roberts, Academy Award winning actress Holly Hunter and tennis greats John McEnroe and Chris Evert have joined Billie Jean King in Gladwyne to help raise funds and awareness for AIH. Over the past two years, almost $500,000 has been raised for AIH as a result of the benefits.

"CTCA patients exemplify the spirit of the Freedoms and Billie Jean King - courage, tenacity and a never-quit mentality," said Faith Williams, AIH Board Member. "By partnering with the Freedoms we are able to support the importance of teamwork and have greatly benefited from the generosity of Freedoms fans through their support of Assistance in Healthcare."

The Philadelphia Freedoms also host an annual CTCA "Care that Never Quits" Award presentation during a center court promotion at a home match. The "Care that Never Quits" award recognizes outstanding individuals who invest their time and their financial support in AIH. At the Freedoms' last 2013 regular season home match the "Care that Never Quits" award was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Vahan Gureghian.

Vahan and his wife, Danielle, are passionate advocates for Assistance in Healthcare. Over the past two years, more than 400 families, from across the country, impacted by 52 different types of cancer, have been helped as a direct result of the Gureghian's fundraising work. Their dedication and generosity are truly unmatched and a shining example of care that never quits.

The 2013 Philadelphia Freedoms are presented by Beneficial Bank and hosted by Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
