Philadelphia Continues Winning Streak

PHILADELPHIA – The Wings won their third straight game with a 15-8 victory over the Swarm, Saturday at the Wachovia Center in front of 10,846 fans. Tom Marechek, Dan Finck Keith Cromwell, and Dan Marohl led Philadelphia with three goals each. Goalie Dallas Eliuk earned the win with 44 saves.

"It was another strong game tonight from both ends," said Wings' coach Lindsay Sanderson. "We kept them to eight points and scored 15. The guys are really hanging tough. They just seem to be getting better at the right time."

The action started quickly in the first quarter as each team scored in the first minute of play with tallies from Minnesota's Ryder Bateman and Philadelphia's Tom Marechek. Riley Kemo gave the Swarm the lead, but Minnesota did not put the ball in the net for the rest of the quarter. Goalie Nick Patterson entered the game for the Swarm when Nick Patterson was injured. The Wings took over, scoring the next four goals from four different players, Jake Bergey, Dan Marohl, Marc Morley and Jeff Spano.

Marechek opened the scoring in the second quarter for Philadelphia. Chad Culp answered for the Swarm, but the Wings continued to dominate as Marechek completed the hat trick and Marohl added his second goal of the game. Culp recorded his second goal, but Philadelphia came back once again with an unassisted goal by Dan Finck. Kelly Hall brought Minnesota within four with a power-play goal to close out the scoring in the half.

Each team scored just one goal in the third quarter. Marohl compelted the hat trick for the Wings at the 10:55 mark and D'Arcy Berthiaume scored for Minnesota. Philadelphia's defense held the Swarm scoreless when they had nearly a minute and a half on a two-man advantage. The two goalies combined for 22 saves. Philadelphia held a 10-6 lead going into the final quarter.

The Wings turned up the offense once again in the last quarter. Keith Cromwell netted three goals and Finck added two for Philadelphia. Kerry Susheski and Ryan Ward scored for Minnesota, but it wasn't enough to break the team's four-game losing streak.

Tom Marechek led the Wings in scoring with eight points (3G,5A). Six other players scored goals for Philadelphia, including Marc Morley (1G,3A), Dan Finck (3G,1A), Dan Marohl (3G,4A), Jeff Spano (1G,1A), Keith Cromwell (3G,1A) and Jake Bergey(1G,1A ).

Chad Culp led the Swarm in scoring with two points (2G). Six other players scored for Minnesota, including Kelly Hall (1G), Ryder Bateman (1G,1A), D'Arcy Berthiaume (1G), Kerry Susheski (1G,1A), Ryan Ward (1G), and Riley Kemo (1G,3A).

NOTES: The Wings swept the NLL's weekly awards in week nine of game action.
