New Hampshire Phantoms News Release
Hampstead, NH, June 23 - The New Hampshire Phantoms entertain the Charlotte Eagles on Friday June 24th at Dr George J. Larkin Field on the Campus of SNHU at 7.30 pm in a USL Division II game. The game is very important for the Phantoms, who are looking to maintain their wining streak. The NH side has won their last two games in the league - against the Eagles and the Long Island Rough Riders. They also have a solid home record at SNHU - 3-0-0 and impressive goal difference of 9-0.
Charlotte Eagles are back at the top of the table after slipping the leaders position for a week after the home loss against the Phantoms two weeks ago. Last week the Eagles secured a 1:0 victory against the Wilmington Hammerheads and regained the first place. Forward duo Jacob Coggins and Dustin Swinehart will be the main danger for the Phantoms defense. Both have scored a total of 15 goals so far in the season (Coggins 8 and Swinehart 7). Overall the visitors are the most effective team in the division - they have found the net 26 times in 10 games and have conceded only 7 goals.
Three Phantoms players made the USL Second Division Team of the Week selection after the victory over the Long Island Rough Riders last week. Defenders Jason Karalexis and Brandon Curran and forward Bjorn Hansen were honored after their solid play in the 2:0 win. All of them are ready for the clash with the leaders on Friday. GM Jim DeDeus said: "We already proved that we can beat the strong teams in the division - we have gained victories over the top two sides, the Charlotte Eagles and the Wilmington Hammerheads. The players feel pretty good as they have won their last two games in the competition and we are hoping to continue our run! We expect a solid support from the fans as we are in the crucial stage of the season in which every victory is important in our route to the play-offs zone!"
Two games for the Lady Phantoms
The New Hampshire Lady Phantoms lay two games this weekend in the USL-W League. On Saturday the NH women travel to play against the South Jersey Banshees, kick off is at 7'30 pm. On Sunday the Lady Phantoms are back in action against the New York Magic. The game is at Dr George J. Larkin Field on the Campus of SNHU at 5.00 pm.
The Lady Phantoms have the chance to pick their second league win against the South jersey Banshees. The only win they have so far is against the Banshees - 5:0 in the beginning of June. The South Jersey team has lost all their seven games so far, conceding 23 goals and managing to score only once.
The New York Magic is a place above the Lady Phantoms in the table with a lead of 7 points. If the locals gain two victories the difference will dwindle only to a single point. The New York team was heavily defeated 0:5 last week by the national power New Jersey Wildcats. Before coming to Manchester they have a game on Saturday away at the Boston Renegades.
