Phantoms second-half comeback nabs Eagles 3-1

(New Hampshire) - The Charlotte Eagles faced the New Hampshire Phantoms tonight on the road. Despite a first half 1-0 lead, the Eagles gave up 3 second half goals, falling to the Phantoms 3-1.

The Eagles came out strong in the first half and moved the ball well. The first goal of the match came in the 30th minute by Jacob Coggins. It was the Charlotte native's team leading nineth goal of the season. Charlotte played 60 minutes of beautiful soccer, but were unable to add any more to the scoreboard. The New Hampshire goalkeeper came up with two big saves to hold the Eagles lead to one.

New Hampshire turned up the pressure in the second half, testing the Charlotte defense. In the 67th minute Bjorn Hansen broke through the Charlotte defense and evened the match at one. Mark Manganello came up with two more goals for the New Hampshire in teh 78th minute and the 84th minute to earn the victory.

Charlotte and New Hampshire were even on shots with nine each. Eric Pattison had four saves for Charlotte to Richmond's two. The loss, brings Charlotte's record to 7-2-1 for 22 points in the Pro Soccer League Southern Division.

Friday, July 9th is Domino's Night for another doubleheader evening with the Charlotte Eagles and Lady Eagles at beautiful Waddell Stadium. The first 200 youth fans will receive a FREE Domino's Water Bottle. The Lady Eagles kick off at 5:30pm, followed by the Eagles match at 8:00 pm. To add to the Awesome Soccer, we'll have the Coca-Cola Fun Zone, Live Music, the Buckwild Frisbee Toss, and the "Bojangoal Kickout!"
