New Hampshire Phantoms News Release
Hampstead, NH, 7/18 -- The NH Phantoms and the Harrisburg City Islanders tied 1:1 on Saturday in a USL Division II game in Manchester. James Proctor was on target for the locals from a Brandon Curran assist after 18 minutes. The visitors grabbed a point with a goal from Ryan O'Neill 15 minutes from time, Chad Severs made the assist.
This was the second game in a row the Phantoms slipped the win in the last minutes of the game. A week earlier the team missed out on the three points after letting the Pittsburgh Riverhounds score for 1:1 8 minutes from time. The Phantoms are now 8th in the table with 14 points from 14 games and a record of 4 wins, 8 losses and 2 ties. However the Phantoms have a solid record when playing at SNHU in Manchester - they have three wins, only one loss and two ties, which came from the last two games.
Head coach Suleyman Doenmez surprised everyone when he put defender Brandon Curran in the attack against Harrisburg. Curran however made a good performance and assisted for a great goal by James Proctor. Curran headed down the ball for Proctor who put it in the net with a volley from the edge of the penalty box. GM Jim DeDeus said: "It is frustrating to see a win disappear in the final part of the match but this is part of the game. We still have six more fixtures in the regular season and we hope to get the maximum of these games."
The Phantoms are on the road this weekend. On Friday they play at bottom rock Northern Virginia Royals. On Saturday the Phantoms will play at Harrisburg City Islanders.
The NH Lady Phantoms lost 0:9 to the NJ Wildcats in the USLW league this weekend. Kate Sands scored a hattrick for the visitors, ranked 4th in the world for this month in the women's soccer world club ranking. The Lady Phantoms travel to play at Western Mass Lady pioneers on Friday and at Sudbury Canadians on Sunday.
