New Hampshire Phantoms News Release

Hampstead, NH, July 7 - The NH Phantoms play at home this Friday July 8th against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in a USL Division II game. The match is at Dr George J. Larkin Field on the Campus of SNHU in Manchester at 7.30 pm.

The Phantoms are one place above the Hounds in the league table with a two point lead. The Phantoms have 12 points from 12 games; their opponents have picked 10 points from 10 games. A win tomorrow will increase the Phantoms' lead to 5 points.

The Hounds had two players picked in the USL Division II Team of the Week for last week. Defender, Nathan Salsi was named to the team because of his assist in the match against the Harrisburg City Islanders on July 1st. The Islanders and the Hounds tied at one in that fixture. Midfielder Vincente Bastidas received honors for scoring the equalizer in the same match. Forward David Flavius will be the main danger for the Phantoms' defense tomorrow night. He has scored 4 goals of the Hounds' 13. There are nine players on 1 goal.

Phantoms' GM Jim DeDeus said: "We have a good record at home this season. We have won three out of our four games in SNHU and there is no reason the number of the victories not to be increased. The team has good potential and if the players manage to get a good run until the end of the season we might be able to clinch a playoff spot." The first four teams in USL Division II qualify for the playoffs. The Phantoms, 7th in the table at the moment, are 9 points away from the 4th placed Harrisburg City Islanders. The locals have eight more games, five of which are against direct competitors for the 4th place.
