Albany River Rats News Release

ALBANY, NY - Rookie forward Kyle Greentree scored a goal and added an assist as the Philadelphia Phantoms beat the Albany River Rats 2-1 in Game 4 of the East Division Semifinals Tuesday night at the Times Union Center.

Bolstered by the momentum of a split of the two games in Pennsylvania, Albany came out firing on all cylinders as they looked to grab a commanding lead in the series. Philadelphia forward Ryan Potulny was whistled for boarding just 28 seconds into game and the River Rats immediately cashed in to take a 1-0 lead. Jakub Petruzalek knocked in a rebound from a David Cornacchia shot from the blue line at 2:00 of the first period for a power play goal, his second goal of the playoffs, assisted by Cornacchia and Brandon Sutter. But the Phantoms answered immediately to quell some of the enthusiasm, scoring 20 seconds later to tie the game. Rory Fitzpatrick's shot from the point redirected off Kyle Greentree and then off Jonathan Matsumoto before it snuck into the net at 2:20, leaving goaltender Michael Leighton helpless to keep it out.

The Phantoms took the lead in the second period on a power play when Denis Gauthier's slap shot from the blue line kicked off of Leighton right to the waiting stick of Greentree, who tapped it in for a 2-1 lead at 5:20. Philadelphia out-shot Albany 13-6 in the second period, but could not add to their one-goal advantage.

The River Rats came storming out in the third period and threw everything they could at the Philadelphia goal. Albany out-shot the Phantoms 15-3 in the final frame, and even pulled Leighton to create a six-on-four power play in the last two minutes, but the closest they came was a Brett Carson one-timer that rang off the outside of the left post with only seconds left.

Scott Munroe stopped 30-of-31 shots to earn the win in goal for Philadelphia, pulling the series back even 2-2. Michael Leighton made 24 saves on 26 shots in the loss for Albany, who now must win at least one more game in Philadelphia to advance to the next round. Albany was 1-for-6 on the power play in the game, while the Phantoms were 1-for-5 with the man-advantage.

Tied at two games each, the series stays in Albany for Game 5 on Thursday, April 24th at 7:00 pm at the Times Union Center. Game 6 will be back at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 26th at 7:05 pm.
