Florence Phantoms News Release

Florence, SC - The Phantoms, a franchise of the American Indoor Football League (AIFL) announced today the start of their talent search for some lucky individual to portray the team mascot, ‘Phantom'.

The team has already posted their expectations for this position on their website at www.florencephantoms.com under employment. Jack Bowman, General Manager, has indicated this is not the only position the team is seeking to fill and more entries will join the list in the days ahead.

According to the description on the site, whoever is chosen "must have tremendous enthusiasm, energy, and a love for working with people, especially children. The individual must be creative, have confidence, humor and charisma". Additionally, they "should have a solid understanding of the game of football, and have the ability to perform physical work in the mascot uniform".

When asked what he thought made a good candidate, the owner, Mr. Darrell Thompson, replied, "Aside from what has been outlined previously, I think he ought to be tall. But, that is just my opinion, I have nothing to do with the selection process and you'd be better off asking Mr. Bowman or Ms. Iseminger."

The outfit will, of course, be purple...

Assistant General Manager of the team, Candice Iseminger (pronounced ICE-MING-GER), felt that an ability to work with children is a must, height a serious plus and extreme enthusiasm a key element for any individual selected. However, she insisted, the position is open to everyone - including women.

Mr. Bowman agreed with his colleagues over the issue of height but felt other qualities were equally, if not more, important such as, endurance. Because events outside the arena will demand the presence of the team mascot, Jack also believes the individual needs flexibility in their personal schedule.
