Phantoms Back for Ladies Night with Thunder

Bloomington, IL - The Youngstown Phantoms return to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum for the first time since November as the Bloomington Thunder face off with their Eastern Conference rival for the eighth time this season. Puck drop for the Thursday evening game is 7:00 pm CST as the Thunder host their second Ladies Night of the season. Tickets are $7 in the end of the Coliseum with Budweiser and Pepsi products on sale for $2.

Game Notes

Bloomington is 20-17-7 this season and are 8-1-2 in their last 11 games. They hold the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference with 47 points through 44 games played. Youngstown has moved up the later as of late in the East. They are in third place with 53 points just two points behind the Muskegon Lumberjacks. In 42 games played this season, the Phantoms are 24-13-5.

The Thunder are 4-0-1 in five games with their last resulting in a 5-2 win over the Lumberjacks to rebound from their first loss in a month. In the Monday matinee the Thunder would suffer the early deficit before running away with the game. Jalen Smereck scored on the power play to grab his fifth point (1g, 4a) in four games and tie the game. Nine different players picked up a point in the game while four tallied multi-point nights. Goaltender Logan Halladay (University of Minnesota) picked up the win with 26 saves and going 2-0-2 in four games.

Captain Ryan Siroky (Miami University) earned the number one star with three points, giving him eight (3g, 5a) in six games. The Manhattan Beach, CA native is +6 in those games as well. Forward Matt Mendelson (Penn State University) continues to lead the team in points with 31 (11g, 20a) after grabbing three assists in the game. The Pittsburgh, PA native has 11 points (3g, 8a) in six games.

Youngstown is currently on a five-game winning streak, winning all their games in the month of February. After a two game sweep the Phantoms come to Bloomington where they are 2-1-0 at the Coliseum. National Hockey League prospect Kyle Connor (University of Michigan) leads the pack with 48 points (19g, 29a) and is second in the United States Hockey League's scoring race. Conor is currently ranked as the 14th best skater in North America by NHL Central Scouting. Maxim Letunov (Boston University, St. Louis Blues) is not far behind with 46 points (19g, 27a) and is tied for third in the USHL's scoring leaders.

Next Home Game: Star Wars Night caps off the Thunder's five game home stand on Saturday, February 21st at 7:00 pm CST. The game at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum will host special Star Wars characters on the concourse and on the ice. Proceeds from the night benefit Easter Seals. Say Star Wars when you buy your ticket and $1 will be donated. A game in the Bud Light lounge called 'Blast a Trooper' and Star Wars patches will be on sale at merchandise to also benefit the disability services center.
