Phantoms announce dance team tryouts

Florence, SC- Candice Iseminger, Assistant General Manager for the Florence Phantoms, a franchise of the American Indoor Football League (AIFL), announced today the second of the open Spirits dance team tryouts.

Spirits Dance Team

The Spirit dance team is in its first year dancing for the Florence Phantoms indoor football team. The team will be coached and coordinated by Leigh Bostick and choreographed by Caroline Mack. Leigh coaches the Francis Marion University Patriot Cheerleaders and has been involved with cheerleading since middle school. Leigh does all the coordinating and polishing for the Patriot Cheerleading Team. Caroline Mack has had over eighteen years of training in ballet, tap, jazz, African, hip hop, pointe and modern dance. She is Artistic and Executive Director of the Caroline Mack Center for Arts in Sumter, SC. Caroline is also the current Instructor of Dance for Sumter School Districts 2 & 17 for the 21st Century After School Learning Centers. The girls consist of ages 18 years and up to mid-thirties, and come from a variety of backgrounds, including cheer, hip-hop, jazz, and studio, and some have danced at the college level. The team tryout is on November 19, 2005 and tryout information and requirements are listed below. The team dances at halftime and timeouts and they cheer during the football game. The team will also make appearances at outside events throughout the year, such as, parades, charity events, and on-site radio promotions. The team practices twice a week at a location to be announced after the dance team has been selected, where they will continue to work out to stay in shape for the season.

Registration (day of) $25.00


Requirement for tryout:
- Black dance pants, black sports bra, black leotard, tennis/dance shoes with socks
- Full make-up and hair
- You will be taught a 30 second hip-hop dance and one sideline dance, which you will have to perform.
- You will need to bring an 8 count of your own dance of hip-hop style that you will need to add to the end of the dance you learn.
- You will be required to do a toe-touch and a double-turn. A leap is optional.
- Music will be provided for you
- You will be informed that day if you made the team and you will then attend a meeting.

Basic requirements for the team include:
- Must be 18 years old or older and a high school or equivalent graduate.
- Hip-hop/pom dance ability
- Cheer/motion technique
- Toe-touch
- Glamour and physique of a pro-cheerleader.
