Elmira Pioneers News Release
The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League announced this evening that the league will be fielding a team in 2014 at the Cantine Veterans Memorial Complex in Saugerties, NY.
Cantine Field was previously the home of the Saugerties Dutchmen, who for decades played in the Hudson Valley Rookie League and the Mohawk Hudson Baseball League.
"Saugerties is a great community with a tradition of quality baseball at Cantine Field. The playing surface is immaculate and with the addition of lights, just right for a collegiate league. We feel the PGCBL brings the best collegiate ballplayers to NY each summer and I expect the fans in Saugerties to enjoy fun filled family outings all season long.", stated PGCBL President Jeff Kunion. "The Town Board, the Recreation Committee the whole community is very active in helping to maintain Cantine Field. We can't wait to start play there."
The PGCBL is a ten team collegiate league located in upstate New York. The league is affiliated with Perfect Game USA, the largest independent scouting service in the country. Last year more than 1,250 professional players and 85% of all MLB draftees had either worn the uniform of a PGCBL team or participated in a Perfect Game USA event.
