The 67's were the Eastern Conference's number one seed heading into the playoffs and the top team in the OHL. With Barrie's win Sunday night against Hamilton, all Eastern Conference Quarter-Final matchups are complete, setting up a showdown between the Petes and 67's in the Semi-Final.
The long-time Eastern conference rivals have faced off 39 times over the past five years, with Peterborough's record being 17-17-2-3 during that stretch. Over those five years, both teams have had success at home, with Peterborough winning 10 games at the PMC and Ottawa winning 14 at TD place.
This will be the first time that the two teams meet in the playoffs since 2006, when Peterborough won the Eastern Conference Quarter-Final 4-2, beginning their J. Ross Robertson Championship run. The teams seemed destined to face off in the 2019-20 playoffs, with both teams setting sights on a championship run before the season was canceled. The Petes had Ottawa's number all through 2019-20, handing them four of their 11 losses on the season.
The Petes are back in action on Friday, April 14, in Ottawa for game one of their Eastern Conference Semi-Final against the Ottawa 67's. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Fans can catch the game on OHL Live, YourTV Peterborough or Freq 90.5.
