Peter Pappas Named MISL Goalkeeper of the Week

Philadelphia, PA, January 10, 2005 â The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that Philadelphia KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas has been named the League's Goalkeeper of the Week for the seven-day period ending January 9, 2005. The seven-time all-star also received the weekly accolade for the seven-day periods ending November 22 and December 19.
Pappas earned a pair of victories between the posts for Philadelphia this past weekend, improving his record to 9-5 overall this season. The native of Toronto, Ontario earned a 4-3 win versus Kansas City (1/8) with four saves on a season-low seven shots faced, before registering a 6-5 overtime victory with 17 saves on 22 chances in Cleveland (1/9). Pappas is currently ranked first among MISL goalkeepers in wins, second in minutes played (836) and saves (181), third in save percentage (.736) and fourth in goals against average (4.66).
The nine-year veteran has been named to seven all-star squads, five of which he was selected to start, and six all-league teams during his career. Pappas was named the MISL's Goalkeeper of the Year for the 2003-04 campaign, after finishing the regular season with a 17-12 record, a 5.44 goals against average and a League-best .765 save percentage. The Philadelphia University graduate also received Player-of-the-Week honors five times (seven-day periods ending October 5 and 12, January 18 and February 1 and 8) and Player-of-the-Month honors for his play in October and January last season. Overall in his career, Pappas has received Player-of-the Week honors 19 times, as well as eight Player-of-the-Month honors.
The KiXX remain on the road for a pair of contests, at Milwaukee on January 14 and in Baltimore on January 21, before returning to Philadelphia on Saturday, January 22 to entertain the St. Louis Steamers.
