Evansville Thunderbolts News Release
Mark Petaccio has been making his mark since returning to the Thunderbolts last week, scoring a goal and nearly scoring another one which was called off after review. Tonight, Petaccio would strike again to start a comeback for the Thunderbolts which would just fall short in a 5-3 loss to the Bulls.
The Thunderbolts found themselves down 4-0 in the second period, and following a mismatch of a fight between Loren Ulett and Nathan Ferriero, the Bolts would wake up and outscore the Bulls in the game's second half. Petaccio's goal was on the power play at the 15:49 mark, from Ben Owen and Rory Rawlyk. After Birmingham regained the four goal lead early in the third period, Nathan Ferriero would come back and score his first pro goal to make it 5-2, from Frank Schumacher and Scott Donohue. Following a major penalty to Shayne Morrissey, the Thunderbolts would get just a little closer, as Nick D'Avolio would add a shorthanded goal with 4:42 remaining to make it a race to the finish, making it 5-3, which would be the final score. Mike Fazio and Rawlyk assisted on the final goal.
For Evansville, Petaccio, D'Avolio, and Ferriero scored a goal each, and Rawlyk would tab two assists. Ed Minney made 21 saves in net. Following a day off back in Evansville for Thanksgiving tomorrow, the Bolts get back on the road, heading to Peoria on Friday night, and Quad City on Saturday night. The Thunderbolts return home on Friday, November 30th , taking on the Quad City Storm.
