Colorado Crush News Release
Commerce City, Colo. ( May 15, 2003) - The Colorado Crush has announced that Bobby Pesavento will start this weekend's game against the Arizona Rattlers in place of current starting quarterback John Dutton.
"We believe that Bobby deserves a shot", said Colorado Crush Head Coach Bob Beers. "He has been a positive force all year for our football team, and he has worked extremely hard."
Dutton has started all but one game he has played in this season, throwing for 3,741 yards on 293-of-473 passing, and adding 71 touchdown passes. He was replaced as the starter at Las Vegas by Jeff Lewis, but won back his starting position two games later at Tampa Bay. Dutton currently ranks in the top 10 in several major AFL passing categories.
Pesavento will garner his first start of his AFL career against Arizona, but has played in three games this season, replacing John Dutton in all three cases. He has thrown for 113 yards on 11-of-25 passing, and adding one touchdown pass.
"This by no means has anything to do with the way Dutton has played this season", said Beers. "Bobby has earned a chance to show what he can do. He has grown a lot this year."
