NEW YORK - May 15, 2003 - The Central Division title and home field in the first round of the AFL playoffs are determined when Dallas travels to Van Andel Arena to play Grand Rapids on NBC at 3 p.m. ET this Sunday. Dallas (9-6) looks to secure its first ever division title, while Grand Rapids (8-7) will attempt to break its four-game losing streak. Tom Hammond (play-by-play), Pat Haden (analyst) and Lewis Johnson (reporter) will handle the broadcast.
In regional coverage, Indiana (6-9) tries to keep its playoff hopes alive as it visits Chicago (7-8) at the Allstate Arena. Indiana needs a victory for any chance to make the playoffs, while a Chicago win gives the third-year franchise a shot at hosting a first-round game. Mike Breen (play-by-play), Ray Bentley (analyst) and Marty Snider (reporter) will call the game. Rounding out the day, Tampa Bay (11-4) will visit Georgia (8-7) as both teams fight for home field advantage in the playoffs with Bill Weber (play-by-play) and John Riggins (analyst) on the game broadcast.
The AFL on NBC Studio Show, a TelePrompTer-free zone, hosted by Al Trautwig with analysts Michael Irvin and Glenn Parker, kicks off the day with a preview of the regional coverage, including live interviews from the venues. The weekly Studio Show features pre-game analysis and features, halftime game updates from around the league, as well as the latest NFL news, and post-game wrap interviews.
