
Peoria Pirates Announce Player Open Tryouts

PEORIA, IL - (October 14, 2008) The Peoria Pirates coaching staff announces they will be holding open tryouts for those individuals wanting to be part of the team for the 2009 season. The tryout is open to any athlete, especially kickers, interested in playing for the Peoria Pirates of the arena football 2 (af2) league.
Tryouts will be held Saturday, October 18th in Pekin, Illinois at the Pekin Dragon Dome located at 3401 Griffin Avenue, an indoor turf field. Participants are encouraged to wear shorts, t-shirts, molded or screw in cleats (no track spikes). Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with tryouts beginning immediately after. A registration fee of $60 (cash or money order only!) will be collected at registration. Participants will be required to sign a waiver prior to taking part in any activities. Events will include 40 yard dash, 5/10/5 Pro Shuttle, broad jump and position drills.
The Peoria Pirates have had approximately 60 players sign with an AFL, CFL or NFL team. The Pirates have appeared in 4 championship games in Coach Cowdrey's seven seasons as head coach. The Peoria Pirates are looking to make it back to the Arena Cup in 2009.
