Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans came to Fair Grounds Field without a win in eight games, but left Sunday with a three-game sweep over the Shreveport Sports, with a 7-0 shutout in the final game of the series.
For the third straight game the Sports had only four hits as major league veteran Clint Sodowsky pitched seven innings, allowing only three hits while striking out six to pick up the victory.
Pensacola scored all the runs they needed in the fourth inning when 10 batters went to the plate and five runs scored. Juan Rocha and Tim Dorn both drove in two runs apiece in that inning for the Pelicans.
The Sports only real threat came in the bottom of the ninth loading the bases with one out, but failed to score.
Shreveport has now lost four straight and will have an off day Monday and then open up a six game road trip on Tuesday at Coastal Bend. The Sports will return to Fair Grounds Field on May 30th against Coastal Bend.
