Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans had two big inning, five runs in the second and five more in the sixth as they defeated the Shreveport Sports 11-3.
The Pelicans pounded out 15 hits, seven extra base hits, including two home runs to hand the Sports their second straight loss. Trino Aguilar hit a two run home run in the five-run second and Larry Bethea blasted a solo shot in fifth, his league tying 15th of the season, in the fifth.
Shreveport had 13 hits, but left ten runners on base in the loss to the Pelicans. Chad Gambill, who had his 17-game hitting streak stopped Sunday, had three of the 13 hits for the Sports.
Shreveport and Pensacola will close out the three-game series Tuesday night at Fair Grounds Field. Game time 7:05. It will be the final game of the current home stand for the Sports, who won't return home again until July 24th.
