Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., - On a dreary, cold night at AT&T Field, the Wahoos delivered a lifeless performance en route to their second-consecutive loss.

The Lookouts scored in the each of the first three innings including a five-run second. By the time the fourth inning rolled around, the Wahoos were staring down a 7-1 deficit.

Prior to tonight's contest, Castillo had made 45 professional starts in his minor league career. None of them were shorter than tonight's outing.

After allowing a run in the first, Castillo recorded two outs after three batters. With Ryan Walker on second, Levi Michael walked, and then Nick Gordon delivered a single to right field that would score two after a throwing error by Aristides Aquino.

Castillo gave up another single to Engelb Vielma, scoring Gordon and prematurely ending Castillo's night with the score at 4-0.

Manager Pat Kelly brought in hard-throwing right-hander Jake Ehret to try and record the final out. That plan backfired as Ehret walked three, hit a batter, and was responsible for two wild pitches. Ehret was eventually replaced for Domingo Tapia without retiring a batter, and of the 21 pitches Ehret threw, only 5 were for strikes.

Pensacola had glimpses of mounting a comeback in the third and the fifth. Both of those rallies were negated by ill-timed double plays. Josh VanMeter washed out Trahan's single when he grounded a double-play ball to the second baseman Nick Gordon. In the fifth, the Wahoos had runners on first and second with one out when Aquino smoked a line drive right to the Lookouts third baseman who threw out a helpless VanMeter at second.

Lookouts starter Randy LeBlanc bounced back from a disastrous first start and limited the Wahoos to just one run in his five innings of work.

LeBlanc was shelled in his last start against the Generals when he allowed eight runs on eight hits in just two innings. Friday night he worked around seven Blue Wahoos hits with his only blemish being a Brian O'Grady sacrifice fly in the second.

Randy Rosario replaced LeBlanc and worked a perfect three innings in relief. Nick Burdi was called upon in the ninth and struck out the side to seal the win for the Lookouts.

Gordon and Vielma had big nights at the plate as both went three-for-five with two RBIs and two runs scored. Michael Reed also had a two-hit performance and all nine Lookout hitters reached base safely at least once.

Tapia pitched through the fifth inning and stuck out a season-high five Lookouts. Alex Power followed him and worked two innings allowing one run while striking out a pair. Southpaw Brennan Bernardino was brought in the eighth and worked scoreless frame.

Offensively, Gabriel Guerrero produced another multi-hit game for Pensacola, his thirteenth of the year. Blandino also had a stand-out performance going two-for-three and a run scored.

Pensacola fell to 15-12 on the season and despite having lost nine of their past 11 games are still atop the Southern League South Division. The Lookouts have now won four consecutive games and improved their record to 14-13.
