Pensacola downs Mississippi Surge in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Joshua Turnbull gave the Pensacola Ice Flyers a 4-3 (OT) victory over Mississippi Surge when he scored 12:22 into the extra period.

The win by Pensacola clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

The Ice Flyers came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pensacola fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Mississippi Surge's Andrew Harrison at 1:46 in the second period. The Ice Flyers knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Joe Tolles at 14:00 in the third period.

Pensacola was sparked by Turnbull, who grabbed one goal.

Mississippi Surge was unable to stop the Ice Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Pensacola eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Pensacola also had goals scored by Keegan Flaherty, Joe Caveney, and John Dunbar, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Adam Pawlick and Steve Bergin, who each chipped in one and Brett Lutes and Ryan Salvis, who contributed two each.

Lucas LaBelle also scored for Mississippi Surge. More assists for Mississippi Surge came via Brett Vandehogen, who had one.

The Ice Flyers' Ross MacKinnon stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Pensacola totaled 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Mathieu Dugas recorded 39 saves for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge totaled 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
