P.E.I. Rocket News Release

The PEI Rocket will Rally behind the Pownal Minor Hockey Association this year for the first ever Rocket Rally on Sunday, November 15th.

The PEI Rocket Players, Coaches and Tomahawk will be in attendance to help raise funds for Pownal Minor Hockey. This project replaces the Rockethon that was formerly held each year, but was cancelled due to lack of interest from Hockey PEI members.

Pownal Minor Hockey approached the Rocket with this fundraising idea and the PEI Rocket gladly accepted. "We were more than happy to lend our support to this project" said GM Kent Hudson. "This is a great grass roots event designed to assist all teams with their fundraising efforts" he added.

Jimmy Dunn, President of the Pownal Minor Hockey Association, said "The Rocket have been a great partner over the years and we truly appreciate their support. From now and until November 15th Pownal minor hockey players will be canvassing the community in order to raise funds for their teams", added Dunn.

In support of the project, the Rocket have set up some incentive prizes to assist in the fundraising activities. The minor hockey player that raises the most money for his team will receive VIP treatment at an upcoming Rocket home game and will receive 4 tickets to a game, an autographed replica Rocket Jersey and a tour of the PEI Rocket Dressing room.

The minor hockey team that raises the most money will receive free tickets to a Rocket game and will also win an on-ice visit from the PEI Rocket Captain and Assistant Captains at one of their practices.

Rocket Players along with the Coaches and Tomahawk will be on the ice for a skate and autograph session with the participating minor hockey players from 2:50pm-4:00pm in Pownal on the 15th.
