Kubalik and Delmas earn TELUS Player of the Week awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 2, 2009 - Victoriaville Tigres forward Tomas Kubalik and Quebec Remparts goaltender Peter Delmas today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from October 26 to November 1.

Kubalik collected four goals, including a game-winner, and added seven assists in four games. Moreover, he posted a +7 rating. The native of the Czech Republic, a fifth round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, had a career-high eight points in an 11-2 victory over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. In the win, he tied a franchise record for most assists in a game with seven (Matthew Lombardi & Carl Mallette - 2000-01),

Jonathan Hazen (Foreurs), Ryan Bourque (Remparts) and Brandon Hynes (Tigres) were also considered.

On defence, Peter Delmas receives the hardware. In two starts, the Remparts' goaltender recorded two victories while posting a 1.97 goals-against-average and .944 save percentage. The Colorado Avalanche's second round pick in 2008 blocked 67 of the 71 shots he faced. Since the beginning of the 2009-10 season, Delmas has collected eight wins in twelve appearances. He has also posted a shutout.

Olivier Roy (Screaming Eagles), Jean-François Bérubé (Junior) and Simon Lacroix (Foreurs) were also strong candidates.
