September 24, 2009 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
P.E.I. Rocket News Release

The PEI Rocket are pleased to announce that they have entered into an exclusive arrangement with Royalty Catering for the operation of the food service within the Charlottetown Civic Centre.

"When we did a survey to our Rocket Launchers Online Panel, it was clear that fans wanted a better level of service from our food operation", said GM Kent Hudson. "We took the advice from our fans and have attempted to make significant changes. In our report from May of 2009, we made a commitment to fans that we would look at some new ideas to improve our food and beverage offerings and that is exactly what we are trying to do", added the GM.

Royalty Catering is a subsidiary of Rodd Hotels and Resorts and will be making substantial changes in the food operation at the Civic Centre. Just a few of these changes are outlined below:

- The changes will take place immediately and Royalty Catering will be up and running for the next home game on the 26th of September;

- The biggest change is that the new operation will work towards having hot food available at all canteen locations in the CCC and the VIP Lounge at the top of section 5 - All efforts will be made to distribute traffic more efficiently throughout the Charlottetown Civic Centre to allow more fans to enjoy food and beverage when attending games or other events;

- The newest menu item will be chicken wings, while additional menu items will be looked at in the future

Mark Rodd of Rodd Hotels, indicated that "this is a great opportunity to strengthen our existing partnership with the PEI Rocket, and we look forward to enhancing the experience of PEI Rocket fans when attending events at the Charlottetown Civic Centre. We were already a major sponsor of the team and this was a natural extension for us".

Hudson further added that "we mostly wanted to ensure that we focus our attention on our core business, which is operating the hockey team to the best of our ability. This will allow us to do that, while actually enhancing the overall service that we provide to our loyal fans".

Rocket fans will be treated to some of the new changes at the next two home games, scheduled for Saturday, September 26th against the Victoriaville Tigres at 7:00 PM, and then on Sunday, September 27th when the Rocket host the Gatineau Olympiques at 4:00 PM.
