Moncton, NB – The PEI Rocket downed the Moncton Wildcats 3 – 2 in a battle between the top two teams in the Atlantic Division, on Friday night, before 4,415 at the Moncton Coliseum.

The teams traded goals in the opening period before PEI grabbed a 2 – 1 lead in the second period and held on to improve their record to 9 – 3 – 1 – 0 (19 pts), while Moncton remains in second place with a record of 7 – 3 – 1 – 0 (15 pts).

Maxime LaPierre (5th), Jimmy Bonneau (3rd) and Dominic Soucy (4th) each had one goal and one assist to lead the Rocket. Martins Karsums scored both goals for the Wildcats, his fifth and sixth of the season, while Ryan Salvis, Josh Hepditch, Oskars Bartulis and Bruce Graham each added one assist.

Moncton outshot PEI in each period, including 13 – 7 in the first, 12 – 8 in the second and 16 – 3 in the third, for a total of 41 – 18. Moncton was 1 for 5 on the powerplay, while PEI went 0 for 6. Ryan Mior improved his record to 3 – 1 – 0, as he blocked 39 of 41 shots, while Corey Crawford saw his record fall to 6 – 2 – 1, as he blocked 15 of 18 shots. The game's three stars were #1 – Ryan Salvis, #2 – Ryan Mior and #3 – Josh Hepditch.

Moncton begins a four game road trip on Sunday when they visit the Rocket in a 4 pm contest at the Charlottetown Civic Centre, before heading to Quebec for games in Gatineau on Thursday, Val D'Or on Friday and Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday. Moncton's next home game is on Wednesday, October 27th when they host the Rocket, at 7 p.m.
