Wenatchee Wild News Release
WENATCHEE, Wash. - The North American Hockey League (NAHL) unveiled its 2009-10 All-Rookie Team on Wednesday. Three of the six spots on the team were awarded to members of the Wenatchee Wild, including: Forward Shawn Pauly (Bellingham, Wash.), defenseman Alex McLean (Duluth, Minn.) and goaltender Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.).
The All-Rookie Team was selected by the NAHL's coaches and general managers based upon 2009-10 regular-season play.
Pauly finished as the Wild's sixth leading points-getter (36) in his rookie season, scoring 17 goals and adding 19 assists. His highest single-game points total came in the Wild's 5-3 win over Alpena on Sept. 25 when he scored two goals and assisted on two others. He recorded his first NAHL hat trick on Nov. 18 in the Wild's 5-1 win over Kenai River.
McLean scored 20 points (4G, 16A) in his rookie campaign. His highest single-game points total came in Wenatchee's 6-1 win over Alaska on Jan. 2 when he recorded a playmaker. Both Pauly and McLean are committed to play Division I hockey at the Air Force Academy.
Jaeger's selection to the All-Rookie Team is his second NAHL honor in less than a week after he was named to the All-West Division Team on Friday. Jaeger's 1.83 goals-against average and .928 save percentage were the best in the league. He posted a 22-3-1 record, and his 22 wins tied him for third best in the league. Jaeger won the Sherbrook Hockey Goaltender of the Month twice during the 2009-10 season.
The NAHL's Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, All-NAHL Team, Forward of the Year, Defenseman of the Year, Goaltender of the Year and the league's nominee for the USA Hockey junior Player of the Year will be announced during the Robertson Cup Championship Tournament banquet on Monday, May 3, at the Town Toyota Center. The Academic Achievement Award, Community Service Award, Coach of the Year, General Manager of the Year and Organization of the Year will also be announced at the banquet.
