Paul Fixter Joins Amerks as Assistant Coach

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that Paul Fixter has been hired as an assistant coach. Fixter joins Assistant Coach Chris Taylor and Goaltending Coach Bob Janosz on Amerks Head Coach Randy Cunneyworth's coaching staff.

Fixter, 52, has spent six seasons as a head coach at various levels, most recently with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League for parts of two seasons from 2013 to 2015. From 1995 to 2001, Fixter served as the Video Coordinator on the Colorado Avalanche coaching staff and was a part of two Stanley Cup championship teams (1996, 2001). He then joined the American Hockey League's Hershey Bears, first as an assistant coach for two seasons before taking over as the 20th head coach in Hershey history from 2003 to 2005, going 72-71-8 during that span.

Following a two-year stint as head coach of the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League from 2006 to 2008, Fixter joined the OHL's Kitchener Rangers as Associate Coach and Assistant General Manager. In six seasons, Fixter helped lead the Rangers to a record of 187-121-32 in that span before joining Sudbury.
