Pats' McNabb Named WHL Eli Wilson Goaltending Goaltender of the Week

Calgary, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Dean McNabb of the Regina Pats has been named the WHL Eli Wilson Goaltending Goaltender of the Week and league nominee for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 30, 2018.

McNabb made his single appearance between the pipes count as he stopped 43 of 44 shots in a 2-1 win over the Prince Albert Raiders, giving him a 1-0-0-0 record, 1.00 goals-against-average, and a 0.977 save percentage. The win also brought an end to the 17-game home winning streak of the WHL and Canadian Hockey League's top team.

The Davidson, Sask. product stopped 13 of 14 shots in the first period, then turned aside 13 and 17 shots over the next two periods respectively. The 43-save performance marked a career-high save total for the 6-foot-2, 176-pound goaltender, who has now earned a victory against all four Saskatchewan-based opponents as a member of the Pats this season. McNabb was also named the first star of the game and the first star of the night in the WHL for his efforts.

Originally selected by the Victoria Royals in the third round, 61stoverall, of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft, the 18-year-old McNabb was traded back to his home province earlier this season and has appeared in 14 games with the Pats, posting a 4-8-0-0 record, 4.32 GAA, and a 0.872 SV%. Overall, McNabb has appeared in 44 WHL regular season games split between the Pats and Royals, posting a 8-18-0-0 record, 4.49 GAA, and a 0.869 SV%.

McNabb and the Pats are back in action Tuesday, January 1 (4:00 p.m. CT), playing host to the Raiders at the Brandt Centre.
