Indiana AlleyCats News Release

Anderson, IN (February 11, 2007) - The Albany Patroons held on this afternoon for a three-point victory against the Indiana Alley Cats at the Wigwam, 132-129. The Alley Cats picked up two quarter points in the loss.

The Patroons (17-10) played shorthanded the entire game. This caused T.J. Thompson, Felipe Lopez, and Kwan Johnson to play the entire 48 minutes. Despite the disadvantage, they were able to hold their own in the first half. The two teams went into the half tied at 65. The Alley Cats (17-14) took a seven point lead going into the fourth quarter, only to be outscored by ten in the final quarter. Indiana had the ball, down by two, with 30 seconds left. They couldn't get a shot off before Shaun Fountain turned the ball over. After Johnson hit one of two free throws to give Albany a three-point lead, Indiana called a timeout. They set up a play for Fountain at the end and he caught the ball wide open in the corner. He turned and shot the three-pointer, which bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded.

J.J. Sullinger had a tremendous game in the loss. He finished with 34 points and 9 rebounds. Fountain had 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Erick Barkley tallied 20 points and 6 assists. Carl Edwards added 20 points. Chris Garnett just missed a double-double (9 points and 9 rebounds). Newcomer Chandler Thompson contributed double-figures for the second time in his two games with club, as he ended with 12 points. The Alley Cats shot 51% from the field, but only 69% from the free throw line.

Lopez went off for Albany. He scored 32 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists. Johnson had his second great game in a row against the Alley Cats. He finished with 31 points, including 12 on free throws, and 7 rebounds. John Strickland added 27 points and 6 rebounds. Jamario Moon had a double-double (13 points and 10 rebounds) in his first game back from an ankle injury.

The Alley Cats will host the Butte Daredevils next weekend. Games are set for Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at the Wigwam. Indiana Alley Cats season tickets and single game tickets are currently on sale.
