
Patroons Handle the Alley Cats Easily

Albany, NY (February 28, 2007) - The Albany Patroons came away with an easy victory tonight against the Indiana Alley Cats, 134-111. The Alley Cats were only able to pick up one quarter point in the loss.
Albany jumped out to a quick 37-23 lead at the end of the first quarter. They continued their onslaught in the second quarter, as they took a 70-48 lead into the half. Despite Shaun Fountain's game-high 18 points in the first half, Indiana still trailed. Kwan Johnson led Alabany with 14 in the opening half. The Alley Cats came back to win the third quarter, but fell in the fourth.
Fountain paced the Alley Cats with 32 points on 14 of 22 shooting. Will Caudle added 21, while Chris Garnett tallied 19 points and 5 rebounds. Romuald Augustine rounded out the Indiana players in double figures with 14.
Johnson led the a balanced Patroon effort that saw eight players wind up in double figures. He finished with 20 points and 5 rebounds. John Strickland contributed 19 points and 8 rebounds, while Marvin Phillips had a double-double (12 points and 12 rebounds). The Patroons dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Alley Cats 55-28. They also won the battle of bench points, 74-43.
