
Patriots prevail over Flight in overtime, 101-98

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. â Mike King lead the Patriots with 19 points, four of them coming in overtime, as the Patriots earned their second victory of the season, 101-98, against the Flight at the Crown Coliseum Saturday night. With the Patriots victory, they turned over last place to the Florida Flame.
Ousmane Cisse took control for the Patriots early on with 10 of his 13 points coming in the first quarter. All five Huntsville starters scored in the first quarter, giving the Flight a 22-21 lead at the break. In the second quarter the Flight stretched their lead to eight points, lead by Joe Shipp, who had a game-high 24 points. Huntsville took a 54-47 lead into the half.
The Patriots went on a 10-3 run at the beginning of the third quarter to pull within one point, 61-60, highlighted by a monster dunk by Ernest Brown with an assist from Cook. The score was tied at the end of the third quarter, 74-74. The lead went back and forth in the fourth quarter. With 15 seconds to go in the game the Patriots had the ball and King was fouled by the Flight and made both free throws to put Fayetteville ahead 92-89. Bernard King of the Flight hit a miraculous three at the buzzer to tie the game.
In overtime Mike King took control and the Patriots improved their record to 2-10 with a 101-98 victory. The Patriots had six players in double figures including Ousmane Cisse, Ernest Brown and Omar Cook, who all had double-doubles. Cisse had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Brown had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Cook had a game-high 13 assists to go along with 12 points. Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje had 17 points and nine rebounds in his second game back for the Patriots. Tang Hamilton had 10 points.
The Flight had five other players in double figures besides Shipp in the loss. Bernard King had 17, Earl Barron had 13, Mengke Bateer and Jason Miskiri had 11 and Damone Brown had 10.
The Patriots (2-10) travel to take on the Flight (6-4) for their third game in a row on December 28 at the Von Braun Center. Game time is 7:00pm. The Flight continue its' road trip to Roanoke to face the Dazzle on December 21. For more information, log onto nbdl.com.
