NBDL daily developments
Published on December 18, 2004 under NBA G League (G League) News Release
REMATCH: After meeting last night at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, the Huntsville Flight and Fayetteville Patriots play again at the Crown in the league's only game tonight. Huntsville leads the season series 3-0.
STILL SPIRALING: Fayetteville will try to avoid the worst 12-game start in NBDL history tonight. The 2001-02 Patriots started that season 2-10, as did last year's edition of the Columbus Riverdragons. This year's Fayetteville edition is currently 1-10 and has lost six straight.
IT ADDS UP: Fayetteville center Ruben Boumtje Boumtje, who returned to the Patriots Friday after rehabbing a hand injury, should have little trouble keeping up with his statistics. Boumtje Boumtje earned his college degree in math and was president of the Georgetown Math Club.
PLEDGED TO LIVE: Bet you didn't know that Columbus inside player Kitwana Rhymer's first name means "pledged to live" in Swahili.
FROM TWO TO 15K: Only two colleges offered former NBA All-Star and current Florida Flame head coach Dennis Johnson a scholarship following his Harbor Junior College career. After playing one season at Pepperdine, Johnson went on to become just the 11th player to record more than 15,000 points and 5,000 assists in an NBA career and was named to nine consecutive NBA All-Defensive Teams.
NBDL QUIZ: Can you name the only former NBDL player who now holds a front office position with the league?
GAME OF THE WEEK: NBA TV is changing the way basketball junkies watch a game with the NBDL "Game of the Week" show. Instead of broadcasting the game in a conventional manner, NBA TV is taking the game's top performers, analyzing their play and what they have to do to make it to the next level. Following are the next three air dates and games featured:
Teams Game Played Air Date Air Time
Asheville at Florida December 16 December 30 4:30 p.m. ET
Huntsville at Roanoke December 23 January 6 4:30 p.m. ET
Columbus at Fayetteville December 30 January 13 4:30 p.m.

MLK SHOWCASE: The MLK Showcase, featuring every NBDL team in six games over two days, is scheduled for January 16-17 at the Columbus (Ga.) Civic Center.
QUIZ ANSWER: NBDL manager of basketball operations Terrance "Doc" Martin played for the Huntsville Flight before joining the team front office staff. He joined the league office in September 2003.
