Pat McDonald to serve as NSB Community All-Star

South Burlington, Vt.-Pat McDonald, the Vermont State Legislator who represents Berlin, will be on the bench, in uniform and ready to play as the Northfield Savings Bank Community All-Star when the Vermont Frost Heaves host the Boston Blizzard on Saturday afternoon in a holiday matinee.
The Blizzard, which upset the mighty Manchester Millrats last weekend, will be making their first-ever appearance at the Barre Auditorium when they hook up with the 12-2 Frost Heaves for a 2:05 p.m. tip. McDonald, who knows of frost heaves from her tenure as Vermont's secretary of transportation, will be shooting charity shots at halftime to benefit Central Vermont Relay For Life.
At every home game the Frost Heaves welcome to their bench a guest player. This season Northfield Savings Bank invites fans to nominate NSB Community All-Stars by visiting their nearest NSB branch or going to nsbvt.com. Nominees may be a local celebrity; an "Everyman" Vermonter; or just an unusually good citizen or neighbor. The Community All-Star takes center stage at halftime, when he or she is given 24 seconds to sink as many free throws as possible. Northfield Savings Bank makes a donation to the charity of the All-Star's choice for every shot made.
By taking and making shots at halftime of games last season, 23 Northfield Savings Bank Community All-Stars triggered thousands of dollars in giving to charities chosen by Frost Heaves fans. Over the past five years Northfield Savings Bank has donated $1.73 million to hundreds of local organizations, with the Community All-Star program an essential part of that effort.
Tickets for any Frost Heaves home game may be purchased at the door beginning one hour before tip-off; by going to flynntix.org; by calling 802-86-FLYNN; or by stopping by the Flynn's main box office at 153 Main Street in Burlington. Tickets for games in Barre are also available at First in Fitness in Montpelier and Allen Lumber in Barre. Groups of 20 or more may call the Frost Heaves' office at 802-860-0082 for discounted rates.
All Frost Heaves games, home and away, are broadcast on WSNO AM 1450 in Barre and WJOY AM 1230 in Burlington, with select games carried on WLVB FM 93.9 in Morrisville. In addition, free Webcasts of home games are available for viewing both live and on demand at vermontfrostheaves.com, where fans can also find an audio stream of the Vermont Frost Heaves Basketball Radio Network.
