East Texas PumpJacks News Release
Behind a dominating performance from starter, Robert Parucha, the East Texas Pump Jacks returned to their winning ways, topping the Victoria Generals 3-1 on the road Tuesday night.
After being swept by the Victoria Generals less than a week ago, the East Texas Pump Jacks got revenge with a 3-1 win on Tuesday night thanks to a stellar performance on the mound by Robert Parucha.
Parucha picked up the Jacks first nine-inning complete game of the season to lead the Pump Jacks to a big win, halting Victoria's win streak at four games.
In the complete game gem, Parucha recorded a season-high ten strikeouts while issuing just one walk. With the win, the dominating righty moved to 3-0 on the season, second behind Nick Rossetta with four wins. On the night, Parucha only allowed one run on three hits and retired and incredible 15 straight Generals. The Pump Jacks defense came to the aid of Parucha, picking up the other 17 outs without committing an error.
The East Texas offense was quiet, only collecting two hits, but they were able to take advantage of three errors by the Generals to pull away with the win.
The Pump Jacks jumped onto the board first in the top of the second. The inning opened up with a lead off eight-pitch walk to Garrett McMullen. McMullen then swiped second for his 12th stolen base on the season, good enough for second on the Pump Jacks behind the speedy Matthew Dickey. With Michael Hymes at the plate, McMullen added another to his total, stealing third. Then on the attempted pick off throw, McMullen scurried home for the first run of the ballgame.
The Generals answered back in the bottom of the frame, tallying a run of their own. Jace Reece starting the inning with a single, and advanced to second on a ball buried in the dirt from Parucha. After a groundout put Reece at third, Kyle Thornell hit a fly ball to deep left center plating Reece and tying the game at one.
The Pump Jacks responded in the fourth to regain the lead. Joey Armstrong lead things off with a single to left, and McMullen followed with a bunt single placed beautifully down the third base line. Armstrong advanced to third on the first error of the inning, and Nate Esposito earned the RBI with a grounder to short to plate Armstrong. Also on the groundout, McMullen, who was off on the pitch, was able to score from first on another throwing error, giving the Jacks a 3-1 lead, a margin that would carry through until the end of the game.
The Pump Jacks close out the two-game set with the Generals Wednesday night, as they look to return the favor and pick up their fifth series sweep.
