East Texas PumpJacks News Release
Robert Parucha was named the Warstic TCL Pitcher of the Week after his complete-game performance over Victoria
Robert Parucha 's dominating performance in Victoria last week was heralded as one of the best outings of the season for an East Texas Pump Jacks pitcher. It seems it didn't go unnoticed in league circles, either, after Parucha was named the Warstic TCL Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Parucha turned in a complete-game gem on July 16 when the Pump Jacks battled to a 3-1 victory over the Victoria Generals at Riverside Stadium. Parucha tossed the first nine-inning complete game of the season for East Texas. He was also the deciding factor in a close game in which the Jacks' offense picked up three runs on just two hits.
Making his fourth start for East Texas this summer, Parucha struck out a season-high ten batters while allowing just one run on three hits. The right-hander totaled 103 pitches, 79 for strikes, and between the third and the eighth innings he retired 15-straight Generals. Parucha also kept the meat of the Victoria lineup at bay, holding the number two through seven hitters to a combined 1-for-19.
To go along with the double-digit strikeouts, the University of California Davis sophomore yielded just one walk, only his second of the season. Parucha now has more wins on the season (three) than he does walks (two in 28.1 innings). With the win Parucha improved his record to 3-0, and he now trails only Nick Rossetta (4-1) in Pump Jacks victories.
Parucha is the second pitcher and fourth Pump Jack to pick up league honors in 2013.
Jordan Johnson was named Warstic TCL Pitcher of the Week after his complete game, nine-strikeout effort in Week Four.
Mitch Meyer picked up Warstic TCL Player of the Week accolades in Week Five. After hitting two home runs, including a walk-off grand slam the week prior, Meyer added another home run and compiled a .429 batting average, and slugged .619 in his first full week with the Jacks.
Garrett McMullen was the first Pump Jack to be recognized, picking up Warstic TCL Player of the Week honors to open the season. In the first four games, McMullen batted .643 with three doubles, five RBI, and three stolen bases, and he tossed in two outfield assists for good measure.
Parucha and the Pump Jacks return to action Tuesday night for a two-game set with the Brazos Valley Bombers at historic Driller Park.
