LOVES PARK, Ill. - Outfielder Jimmy Parque will get a shot in the St. Louis Cardinals organization after having his contract purchased from the RiverHawks.
Parque joined the RiverHawks August 10 after spending the earlier part of the summer with the Las Cruces Vaqueros of the Pecos League.
In 20 games for Rockford, Parque hit .304 and recored an on-base percentage of .448.
The 5-foot-9, Pacifica, Calif. native hit .332 in 65 games with Las Cruces, collecting 9 home runs and 62 RBIs.
Parque joins Mike Lee and Kyle Schepel as 2012 RiverHawks to be signed by a Major League organization.
