
Panko, Harrison Earn Honors

Boise, Idaho (Nov. 25, 2001)â The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Dakota Wizards forward Andy Panko earned the first National Conference Player of the Week award of 2002-03 while Rockford Lightning guard David Harrison earned the season's first American Conference award, for the period of Nov. 15-23.
Panko, a 6-9 forward from Lebanon Valley (Pa., '99), is averaging 23.4 ppg and 10.2 rpg for the National Conference leading (4-1) Dakota Wizards. He is shooting 56 percent (42-75) from the field and 85 percent (29-34) from the foul stripe. Panko has led the defending CBA champs in scoring in 4 of 5 games and rebounding in 3.
Harrison, who won the award once last season (Feb. 3-9) as a member of the Sioux Falls Skyforce, led the Rockford Lightning to an American Conference best 3-1 record last week behind his league high 29.3 ppg. He is shooting 51 percent from the field and 88 percent from the free-throw line, and averaging 6.3 rpg and 3.3 spg. A 6-4 product of Campbellsville University (Ky. '99), Harrison is the only player in the league with more than one 30+ point effort, and he has three.
Other players receiving consideration for American Conference honors were Grand Rapids' Larry Ayuso (24.5 ppg, 2.8 spg), Gary's Bryant Notree (23.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg), and Great Lakes' Antonio Smith (11.0 ppg, 14.6 rpg). The three other players receiving consideration in the National Conference were Yakima's Rosell Ellis (18.5 ppg, 10.5 rpg), Sioux Falls' Kelley McClure (19.4 ppg, 4.4 apg), and Idaho's Brian Green (20.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg).
