Palmieri Headed to World Championships

Syracuse, NY (April 30, 2012) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that USA Hockey has named right wing Kyle Palmieri to the Team USA Roster for the 2012 IIHF World Championships.

Palmieri, a two-time AHL-All Star, led the Syracuse Crunch in goals this season with 33. The 21-year-old totaled 58 points (33g, 25a) in 51 regular season games played with the Crunch this season. In addition the Smithtown, NY native scored seven points in 18 contests with the Anaheim Ducks this season. Palmieri has played in 28 career NHL contests. The right winger has also played for Team USA in the World Junior Championships in both 2010 (winning a gold medal) and 2011 (bronze).

The IIHF World Championships will be held May 4-20, in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden. Team USA's preliminary round games begin on May 4 and feature France, Canada, Slovakia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Finland and Switzerland as opponents.
