Palmers Big Winners on Kids Day

Vern Palmer and his wife, Shelly, brought their 10-year-old son Ethan to Saturday's Rochester Knighthawks game because it was Kids Day. Ethan won a hat from playing one of the many games offered during the festivities before the contest. It was only fitting that that his father won the Season Ticket Holder of the Game honor on the same night.

"This is cool, I'm psyched that it's signed," Palmer said. "It was definitely exciting. They come out and do T-shirt tosses and you always hope to get something, but this is way better than that."

Eventhough Palmer received the Knighthawks team-signed lacrosse stick, Ethan still wanted to head down to the autograph session after the game to get his new hat signed. Ethan, who has been to three games this season, wants to play lacrosse when he gets a little older. This was evident as he continued to wield the new lacrosse stick around.

Vern and his wife have been season ticket holders since last season after they agreed to check out the Knighthawks when they heard how fun the games were. They enjoy the games so much that they decided to make it their date night on the weekends.

"We came to a few games and we liked it so we said we should get tickets. My buddy comes to the games and we said, 'Let's do it,'" Palmer said. "We're planning on getting them next year too."

The Palmers have sat in Section 221 since last season, which has allowed them to meet the other members of the 7th Man that sit around them.

"The games are really interactive," Shelly said.

"I like the atmosphere, you know. It's really fun," Vern said. "There's always something going on during the games. It's exciting and keeps it interesting. I love it."

Winning a lacrosse stick is one of the reasons the Palmers are such big fans. They also enjoy promotions, especially Kids Day.

"It's exciting and the kids get excited along with it," Palmer said. "Kids Day on top of it is just awesome."
