MUSKEGON, MI.--- With an opening weekend record of 2(1-1-0), after capturing their home opening night 50th Anniversary Season celebration night last Saturday against Bloomington, the Muskegon Lumberjacks have enacted several significant roster moves as they prepare for a two-game home weekend series at Walker Arena against the Dayton Gems and the Port Huron Icehawks.

On this date, the Lumberjacks have announced the signing of defenseman RYAN PALMER and that two other defensemen, namely Dan Boeser and Mike Novak have been placed on waivers effective immediately.

PALMER, 26, is in his fourth pro season and his first in the IHL and with the Lumberjacks. The Groton, MA native was signed as a free agent after playing his entire pro career to this point in the Central Hockey League, initially with the Colorado Eagles and Laredo Bucks, and the most recent two seasons, in Odessa with the Jackalopes. His arrival will inject even more size and strength on an already big, physical blue line for head coach Rich Kromm and company.

Last season, in 2008-09, Palmer performed his trade with the Odessa club where in 42-games, he assembled 9-points on 1-goal, 8-assists, collecting 93-PIM. In the CHL playoffs, he saw action in 11-contests, registering 1-goal, 2-assists for 3-points and 20-PIM. In his three seasons in Odessa, he played in 124-games, accruing 23-points on 4-goals, 19-assists along with 208-PIM. For his entire pro career, he is 165(4-29-33) with 250-PIM.

Prior to his professional advent, Palmer played collegiately at the U. of Connecticut 63(5-9-14) with 74-PIM over the period of two seasons.

Ryan Palmer will wear #25 and is scheduled to make his Muskegon debut this Friday night when the 'Jacks guest the Dayton Gems at 7:00 pm.

As for the two departing Lumberjacks personnel, Boeser, 29, is in his sixth pro season and his second in Muskegon. The U. of Wisconsin product played in 52-games for the Lumberjacks in 2008-09, recording 28-points on 8-goals, 20-assists. He had not yet seen action thus far this season for the 'Jacks.

Novak, 24, is a first year pro who played the past four years for Oswego State of the NCAA Division III SUNYAC Conference. He played in both Lumberjacks pre-season games as well as the first two games of the regular season. In those 2-opening weekend starts, 2(0-0-0) with 13-PIM.

The Lumberjacks continue their extended 4-game homestand this weekend with a pair of appearances at Walker Arena. The franchise 50th Anniversary Season celebration continues this Friday night, October 23rd when the newly-minted Dayton Gems come calling in a 7:00 pm face-off.

Friday night, the Lumberjacks will salute and celebrate the Muskegon legendary pro career of Jock Callander who will have his famous #15 Lumberjacks jersey retired in special pre-game ceremonies. Friday night will also be $1 Beer Night.

This Sunday, October 25th will be another "$5 Sunday at 5" as the Port Huron Icehawks come to town for a 5:00 pm affair. Once again this season, for all Lumberjacks home games, all seats will be specially priced for only $5.
