Pallares Homers And Gets Save Against Hi-Toms

FOREST CITY- Steven Pallares and Maleeke Gibson homered and the Owls scored one in the ninth to defeat the HP-Thomasville Hi-Toms 4-3 Wednesday night at Finch Field.
With one out in the ninth and Maleeke Gibson on second base, a ball got past the Hi-Toms second baseman Josh Ingram allowing Gibson to come around and score the game winning run.
Max Cordy tossed eight innings in the start for Forest City, giving up three runs - two earned -- on four hits and struck out six in his third start of the year.
Steven Pallares, who homered on the very first pitch of the game and played right field for the first eight innings, took the mound in the ninth to earn his third save of the year.
The Hi-Toms took a 2-1 lead on Austin Crutcher's two-run homer in the first inning and scored one more in the third after a Josh Ingram RBI.
Maleeke Gibson responded the next inning with his first homerun of the year, a two-run shot to right-center field to tie the game at three.
The Owls recorded just three hits the rest of the way, but scored the go-ahead run in the ninth to improve to 23-16 on the year.
The Owls return home to McNair Field Thursday, July 17th to take on the Gastonia Grizzlies.
It will be youth sports night and all youth wearing their Youth Sports Jerseys will receive a FREE ticket to that night's game.
A couple other upcoming promotions to mark down are Salute the Troops night on July 19th (all Military Personnel Active, Retired and Disabled will receive free admission to this game) and Hero's night on July 31st (all emergency personnel will receive a free ticket to that night's game).
