Palace Baltimore Welcome AC St. Louis to Maryland

July 22, 2010 - U.S. Soccer Federation D-2 (USSF D-2)
Crystal Palace Baltimore News Release

Baltimore, Md. - In a week of club firsts, Crystal Palace Baltimore (5-8-4) host AC St. Louis (3-10-4) for the first time in their history at the Maryland SoccerPlex Saturday, July 24 at 3 p.m. EST. Palace have faced St. Louis once before, losing 1-0 at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in May. This matchup serves as the curtain raiser for the Washington Freedom's home game against the FC Gold Pride at 7 p.m. Ex-Freedom superstar, Mia Hamm, and four-time FIFA Women's Player of the Year, Marta, will be on hand after the game.

After 17 games, Palace Baltimore are sitting on 19 points and one point out of playoff contention. However, with just under half of the season left to play, Palace seem to have found a vein of good form. In their last two games, they outshot and outplayed a Rochester Rhinos team that had been on fire and pulled off a great come-from-behind 2-1 win over the Impact in Montreal.

Palace striker and leading scorer, Randi Patterson, is eligible for selection after his one-game suspension and will no doubt be eager to add to his four goal tally against a team that has recorded seven of its ten losses on the road.

St Louis have had a tough inaugural season. They are currently at the bottom of the USSF D-2 Pro League, winning only three games and conceding a conference-high 27 goals. Despite their position, St. Louis have proven that they can hold their own. They have twice played the NASL-leading Vancouver Whitecaps to a stalemate and have beaten the likes of Montreal and Puerto Rico.

After a heavy 3-0 loss on Wednesday to the Montreal Impact, St. Louis will look to repeat their early-season win over Palace Baltimore and pick up invaluable ground on the eighth and final playoff spot.

Palace Baltimore stay at home for their next fixture and face the Montreal Impact for the second time in 13 days. Baltimore will want to mimic their last spirited performance against the Impact and close the current four-point gap on their conference foes.

Tickets to all games can be purchased online at www.palacebaltimore.com/tickets or at the box office on game day. Washington Freedom ticket holders can purchase a ticket to the AC St. Louis vs Palace Baltimore game for 5 dollars at the box office with proof of their tickets.

Palace fans that cannot make it to home fixtures can watch the games on a live streaming feed by logging onto the club's website or visiting live.palacebaltimore.com.
