Alaska Aces News Release

Due to extensive construction activity inside the Sullivan Arena, and the uncertainty of a completion date, the Alaska Aces announce that the annual "Paint the Rink Pink" cancer awareness games will not be held this fall.

The Aces hope to bring the "Paint the Rink Pink" games back in the future.

"The progress being made at the Sullivan Arena is impressive and moving along nicely. As with any construction project, unforseen delays can throw a wrench into the best-laid plans, and we don't want to inconvenience our fans if by chance the project isn't fully complete" said Aces managing partner Terry Parks. "We look forward to bringing back the cancer awareness games at a time when all renovations are complete".

In 8 prior years, the Alaska Aces have raised over 455,000 dollars, with all the funds remaining in the state and donated to Breast Cancer Focus Alaska and the American Cancer Society. Both groups used the funds to help with housing, transportation and food for patients commuting to Anchorage for treatment.

The Aces continue it's mission to raise awareness about the prevention, education, treatment and support of cancer affecting both patients and their family members.

In October, the Aces will be participating in the "Making Strides Cancer Walk" Saturday the 3rd. The entire Aces team and mascots will be there.

Then on Sunday, October 4th, it's the Dimond Center "Skate with the Aces" at the Ice Chalet.

Two pre-season games, October 12 and 13, will be played as an "open house" to introduce fans to the Sullivan Arena renovations, new seating and ice upgrades.

750am KFQD will once again serve as the Alaska Aces flagship station.

The regular season commences Friday, October 16 against Missouri at the Sullivan Arena.
