Paddock, Kelman Agree To Terms With RoadRunners

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL have announced that centers Cam Paddock and Scott Kelman have each agreed to terms on a contract for the upcoming 2007-08 ECHL season.

Paddock, 24, returns for his second season with the RoadRunners after tallying 11 goals and 31 points and a career-high 117 penalty minutes in just 46 games in 2006-07. The North Vancouver, British Columbia native and fourth-year professional also collected two assists and 13 penalty minutes in 22 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. Paddock, who served as both the RoadRunners' captain and alternate captain last year, notched his 100th career point while on loan to San Antonio on March 5 at Milwaukee. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round (#137 overall) at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and was a member of the 2003 Memorial Cup Champion Kelowna Rockets. Paddock has recorded 36 goals, 64 assists, and 100 points in 203 career games.

"Cam was a big part of our team last year and we are excited to bring him back," said RoadRunners Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Church. "He plays the game with tremendous energy and emotion, and his leadership will be counted to guide our young players."

Kelman, 26, is a former first round pick (#15 overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes from the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native and sixth-year professional tallied five goals and 14 points in 32 games with the Albany River Rats of the AHL in 2006-07 after signing a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. Kelman averaged more than a point per game in his last two stints in the ECHL posting 15 goals and 47 points in 47 games with the Augusta Lynx in 2003-04, and 14 goals and 47 points in 46 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators in 2005-06. He has also logged a total of 98 games in the AHL with San Antonio, Manitoba, Hershey, Lowell, and Albany. Kelman has recorded 70 goals, 127 assists, and 197 points in 280 career games.

"In an effort to continue to add experience to our team, Scott will be a good fit," said Church. "He is a big body that has produced consistently at the ECHL level. Scott expressed his desire to be a part of a winning program and his leadership will be counted on heavily both on and off the ice."

Paddock and Kelman join a RoadRunners' roster that already includes forwards Daniel Sisca, Jeff Kyrzakos, Chris Stevens, and Mitch Carefoot; defensemen Dave Pszenyczny, Brian Yandle, Nathan Schwartzbauer, Reagan Rome, and Nick Toneys; and goaltender Cody Rudkowsky.

The RoadRunners will visit the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League in the "Battle of the Desert" pre-season series at 7:05 p.m. Oct. 12 and 13 at the Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.
