When the Sharks hit the field on July 18th against the Bossier/Shreveport Battle Wings, in the finale home game of the 2009 season, they will be doing it for a cause. The Sharks will be celebrating their third annual "Pack the House for Charity" game presented by the Corpus Christi Caller Times, The Backyard Place, and Century Tel.
Each year of the Franchises existence, the final home game of the year has been set aside to raise not only money but awareness for local charities in the Coastal Bend.
"This is one of the main drives of both the Sharks organization and the af2 as whole... to give back to the communities we are a part of", said Sharks General Manager and Vice President Larry Linde. "This year we are proud to partner with CASA, The Coastal Bend Blood Center, and The Breast and Cervical Cancer Center of STFPHC".
The Charities benefiting from this years game certainly serve a vital role in the community. Most of the services offered are made possible by charitable donations.
Coastal Bend Blood Center For forty years, the Coastal Bend Blood Center has served as an independent, not for profit, community based blood center meeting patient and hospital needs across the Coastal Bend. Currently, the Blood Center serves 10 counties and 12 medical facilities. As a primary component of the area's healthcare system, the Coastal Bend Blood Center is dedicated to supplying quality blood products and outstanding customer service. Each year, approximately 30,000 caring, Coastal Bend residents help the Blood Center fulfill its lifesaving mission by volunteering as blood donors. www.coastalbendbloodcenter.org
