The team will return for a six-game homestand (all games currently scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.) beginning on Monday, July 18 at Princeton's Hunnicutt Field with homestand information directly to follow. MONDAY, JULY 18: The first 300 fans through the gate will receive a FREE P-Rays t-shirt (as pictured above), courtesy of RAZE/NSTEP. Also, all youth baseball players wearing their jersey tops will be admitted FREE to the July 18 game.

TUESDAY, JULY 19: We will welcome many of the business leaders in our community as part of Princeton Mercer County Chamber of Commerce Night and there will be drawings for prizes throughout the game.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 20: Do not be late for this game as the first 500 fans through the gate will receive a FREE Tampa Bay Devil Rays giveaway item that will carry special significance for P-Ray fans.

THURSDAY, JULY 21: Be among the first through the gate to receive a special logo item from two fine supporters of P-Ray baseball, ESPN Radio and Phoenix Sports of Tazewell, VA !

FRIDAY, JULY 22: Join us as we honor those who put their lives on the line for us as part of "U.S. Cellular Heroes Night." Free admission will be granted to all law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS workers, and members (and veterans) of the armed services that wear a shirt or outerwear that identifies them as such. We ask you to please spread the word on this event to those who are (or retired) from these professions to attend this game.

SATURDAY, JULY 23: Those who present special tickets obtained from either the Princeton or Beckley Taco Bell locations will be admitted for only one dollar!

In other P-Rays news...

THANK YOU FANS FOR YOUR JULY 2 EFFORT: At the P-Rays recent "Salvation Army Night" game on July 2, our great fans brought 1,230 cans of food items which were donated to the food pantry of the Princeton Salvation Army. Both the staffs of the Princeton Salvation Army and the Princeton Devil Rays thank you for making this night so special and helping people that need assistance in this area.

KENNEDY ON THE MOVE: Those who have followed the major league career of former P-Ray pitcher Joe Kennedy (1998 P-Ray) must now look further west as Kennedy was traded from the Colorado Rockies to the Oakland Athletics last week.

SCOUT NIGHT ON JULY 29: We are asking our fans to help spread the word to youth in our area that are involved in scouting that all scouts in uniform will be admitted free of charge to our game on Friday, July 29.

BUS TRIP TO GREENEVILLE: We have already sold 30 of the 46 available seats for the 10th annual P-Rays Fans Bus Trip, which this year will be to Greeneville, TN on Saturday, July 30 to see our P-Rays play the Greeneville Astros in a 7:00 p.m. game. The bus will depart the Hunnicutt Field parking area in front of the ticket office at 2:45 p.m. (one rest stop enroute to Greeneville) and will return to Princeton immediately following the game. Cost of the trip is $25.00 per person and this includes your game ticket and all transportation costs. For more information, please contact the P-Rays front office either by e-mail at raysball@sunlitsurf.com or by telephone at (304) 487-2000.

HOME RUN DERBY RESCHEDULED: The 10th annual STAR 95/Princeton Devil Rays "Home Run Derby" has been rescheduled to take place at Princeton's Hunnicutt Field on Monday, August 1 at 5:30 p.m. There will be awards for the top four in each of the following four categories:

August 1- 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: T-ball age 6 & under, 7 to 9 boys, 10 to 12 boys, 7 to 12 girls, 13 to 19 girls, and ladies 20 & over

August 1- 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.: 13 to 16 boys, 17 to 20 boys, 21 to 30 men, 31 to 39 men, 40 to 49 men, and men 50 & over

Distances are pro-rated for each age group to determine the "home run distance."

Admission is free for spectators and the Princeton Devil Rays Booster Club will also be on hand and will have hot dogs, bottled water, sport drinks, and baked goods available for purchase.

This event is always a lot of fun and hopefully the third time will be the charm in 2005 as rains and wet grounds have forced postponements of the Derby on both July 9 and July 16. For more details, please contact the P-Rays front office either by e-mail at raysball@sunlitsurf.com or by telephone at (304) 487-2000. When you are at the ballpark, there is also information about this event on page 69 of the 2005 Princeton Devil Rays program/yearbook.

PROGRAM/YEARBOOK NEWSLETTER: Another new feature added to our program/yearbook beginning July 12 was the "Rays Report," a newsletter on current P-Rays' happenings that will be changed with each series that a new opponent visits Hunnicutt Field in 2005. The newsletter will feature a P-Ray player profile, game summaries from the previous road trip, and the "X-Ray" feature on former P-Rays, league standings, trivia, and other tidbits. In addition to the prizes that can be won via lucky numbers in the program, and the many restaurant discount coupons, this represents just another reason to purchase a program/yearbook when you visit Hunnicutt Field for a P-Rays' game.

P-RAYS' FINDLAY CAPTURES LEAGUE HONORS: Congratulations to P-Rays' reliever Robert Findlay, who was named Appalachian League "Pitcher of the Week" for the period of July 4-11, 2005. He had four of his league-leading eight "saves" during this period while posting a 0.00 earned run average for the week.

A RARE COMPLETE GAME: Due to strict pitch counts, starting pitchers in the minor leagues rarely receive the opportunity to finish what they start but Jason Hammel (2002 P-Ray) of the AA Montgomery Biscuits beat the odds with a 114-pitch effort as part of a 5-2 victory over the Mississippi Braves on July 4. The decision raised Hammel's record on the season for manager Charlie Montoyo's (1997 P-Ray manager) to 8-2.

Thank you for your continued interest in the Princeton Rays!!

We Appreciate You!!

See you at the Ballpark the week of July 18!!
