Owlz take series finale from Casper

July 27, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release

The Casper Rockies took a five-game winning streak into Wednesday's contest versus the Orem Owlz. They also began the night a game out of first place in the chase for the Pioneer League South Division's 1st half race.

However, they left the game battered and bruised but still just a game out of first after the 12-3 thumping. The wheels fell off for Casper in a marathon-like 7th inning. The Owlz Billy Boyer started the 7th with a solo homerun to left, one of three Orem home runs in the game. 11 Owlz batted against the Rockies in the inning scoring five times.

The Rockies committed three costly errors in the 7th. Luckily for the Rockies, Ogden lost in Idaho Falls to allow the Rockies to maintain their one game distance out of first place.

The Rockies head to Idaho Falls to round out the 1st half of the season while the Raptors host Orem. Jay Metzger pitches for the Rockies Thursday night at McDermott Field in game one versus the Chukars. 7:15 is the game's first pitch.
