
Owls Get Above .500 In A Thriller

FOREST CITY - The Forest City Owls (8-7) won their second straight game Thursday night in Martinsville and passed the .500 mark for the first time since June 3rd.
Conor Clancey homered in the 8th and had a two out, two RBI double in the 9th to help the Owls defeat the Mustangs 5-4 from Hooker Field.
Nick Neitzel took the mound for the Owls throwing seven innings, allowing one run on eight hits and struck out ten hitters.
The Owls got their first run of the ball game in the 2nd inning when Matt Dezort doubled down the left field line scoring Missouri State teammate Joey Hawkins.
Tony DiMartino got the second run across for the Owls after an RBI single in the 4th inning, and Clancey delivered the rest of the fireworks.
After Joe Graziano replaced Neitzel in the 8th, he recorded an out, but then walked two mustangs and induced a ground ball which turned into an error and a run.
Closer Brock Goodling was called on after that and the Mustangs brought across two runs after two more errors and two hits.
After Clancey delivered the go-ahead runs in the 9th, Goodling came back out and retired the side in the 9th to get the win.
Joey Hawkins added three hits and Maleeke Gibson two for the Owls.
Last time these two teams met on June 6th, the Forest City Owls defeated the Mustangs 5-2.
Mustangs Manager Joey Seal was ejected in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Mustangs after a play at first base.
The Owls will continue the 2014 season at home Monday night they take on Petersburg at 7:30. Key dates for the 2014 season include: Fireworks Games on Saturday July 5th and Saturday August 2nd. Single game tickets are on sale now. The Owls will also take on the Chinese Taipei National team on July 7th.
