Rome Renegades News Release
ROME, Ga. - The Rome Renegades have added J.J. Owens to the coaching staff for the 2006 American Indoor Football League season. Owens was brought in to coach quarterbacks and receivers on offense and linebackers on defense. "We are excited about having another coach with the knowledge and enthusiasm that J.J. brings to us. He will add a lot to the Renegades coaching staff" said Head coach David Humphreys. Owens currently is the defensive backs coach at Coosa High School, and coached for Renegades defensive coordinator Scott Chandler for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Before coming to Coosa, J.J. was the quarterback coach at East Paulding High School. "J.J. is the type of coach that you can tell him what you want and you won't have to worry about his players anymore. He is always looking for ways to improve his coaching knowledge and ability. J.J. is one of the reasons we were so successful at Coosa." says Chandler. Owens is originally from Rome and went to Coosa High School, where he was one of the top quarterbacks in the area before going on to play at Union College. J.J. lives here in Rome with his wife Tonja and two children, Daly, age 3 and Bowden, 8 months.
